Last Year was the first time I could tell Conor really understood what Christmas was all about. I will never forget his face on Christmas morning. He was so happy and I was thrilled for him.xx
Despite being almost 6, when it comes to Toys he LOVES Fisher Price or Vtech Toys. They always have lovely soothing sounds, the voices in their talking Toys are not irritating and the toys with lights always have a nice glow. It can be difficult when helping Santa to choose Christmas gifts for Children with Special Needs as you want to ensure they receive the gifts they would most love but also the gifts they can actually physically and intellectually manage.
I have been asked many times recently to put together a Post about Christmas Toys for children with Special Needs. I realize I do not know everything there is no about every single Special Need Condition so this post will be based on what we would ask Santa for now and in Christmas’ past. The toys I have chosen are primarily one’s that have been recommended to me by Therapists but also ones that Conro and baby Jack love.x
♥ Dino Popper
This is an excellent toy to help encourage Hand Strengthening and also Fine Motor Skill Development. Conor already has the Penguin Popper version of this toy so I know Santa will be bringing the Dino Popper as he loves this toy so much. It is great fun to play with but also great value.
♥ Sound Puzzle Box
An excellent toy to teach sorting and matching of shapes, colors and sound. It is different to most other Shape sorters as it makes fun sounds as each peace slides down. Santa will be wrapping up this special toy for Baby Jack this year.x
♥ Pets Sound Puzzle
Melissa & Doug toys are a family favorite here.x They are excellent quality products that last but also provide so much functional fun for little people just like Conor and baby Jack.x
♥ Orchard Toys – Christmas Surprizes
If you follow me on Facebook you will already know how much we LOVE Orchard Toys. They are so engaging, so bright and fun.x They were the first toys that really helped us re-connect with Conor. He always has a HUGE smile when he sees them coming out for play time.x This year Hailey has asked Santa for Christmas Wishes so she can play it with Conor as well.x
Bilibo is an excellent Gross Motor Development toy. Conor and Jack are both getting them from Santa, They are excellent toys to encourage them to be more active, have fun and at the same time help to develop their balance, co-ordination.
♥ Fisher Price Bright Beats
As Conor and Baby Jack LOVE Fisher Price this toy is a MUST this year. I am not surprised to see it has already sold out in many stores. It is an excellent toy for Cognitive Development together with Fine Motor Skill development, Hand/Eye co-ordination. They will both have so much fun playing with this.x
♥ Scooter Board
Excellent for helping to develop upper body, core strength, motor planning and as part of a Sensory Diet. They are a great way for your child to learn about Navigation, balance and body control. SensationalKids.ie also have a larger size for older children priced at €40.00
♥ Stacking Blocks
Positioning all 10 blocks to build the nearly three-foot tower allows children to practice fine motor skills as well as cognitive skills. Jack has a set of these already but I know that Santa will be bringing him a wooden version so that they will be last a lot longer then his cardboard version.
I hope you found my ” A Special Christmas List ” helpful. Santa will be kept busy bringing toys to all the lovely boys and girls this year. I know Conor and Jack will have happy little faces this Christmas morning.
